- abețadar — An old regional variant for the word 'abecedar' (primer, elementary textbook), used in Transylvania and Banat during the 18th and 19th centuries. In the context of medical history and public hygiene, the term also referred to elementary booklets or primary health guides distributed in rural schools, teaching the basic rules of body hygiene, cholera prevention, and smallpox vaccination.
