In behavioral psychology, it is used when a patient deviates from a treatment plan (non-compliance), and in epidemiology, it describes the moment a pandemic curve deviates from the initial predictive model due to sanitary interventions.
• abatere — The act of deviating; a departure from a norm, rule, protocol, or an established mean value. In medical biostatistics, the term is fundamental (standard deviation) to measure the dispersion of clinical data, while in occupational medicine, it indicates a breach of protective or hygiene regulations.
